What attracts me to graffiti (setting aside the pro/con arguments) are shape and color. The colors are from all over the color wheel, and for me are lessons in color theory.
This image is slightly off focus. A "technique" I accidentally learned in my previous post "Off Focus" where a slight breeze threw part of the image off, yet created a sense of movement without resorting to software manipulation. Here I wanted to convey a sensation of swirl with the off focus and the shapes. A sort of kaleidoscope effect if you will.
Foundation Art Compass Color Wheels
Students created unique designs using compasses and then painted them in this introduction to basic color theory.
This lesson taught students how to create a radially symmetrical design using only a compass and no numeric measurements, nor a computer!
After creating compass pencil drawings they were introduced to basic color vocabulary and theory as they painted them and created a unique work of art in the process.
